I just listened to your podcast for the first time ans all I can say is WOW!
In the US it’s easy to get the facts of what’s going on over there hour by hour, but surprisingly difficult to get the emotional feeling from the average person living through this mess. Your podcast really put it into prospective for me. When your baby started crying in the middle of the broadcast I got a lump in my throat. It really brought home the fact you’re just a normal family trying to live your own lives. I can really empathize with how it must feel to have to raise your children around so much danger and uncertainty. Keep up the good work, you’re not just preaching to the choir but also educating the rest of us.

Cosmo, I'll answer you (Dave will be quiet till the end of the Jewish Sabath on Saturday evening I suspect)
Your comment puts a lump in *my* throat. I'm also a blog/podcaster (put "Shire Network News" into Google or iTunes). We will have a new show up on Sunday evening with an interview from a Mumbai blogger. I really do hope that podcasts and blogs can find new people, like yourself, who are not in the choir.
My own cousin, her husband and 7 children (one is 4 months old) have just fled Safed after a katusha landed 300ft from their home and killed a woman and a man. She is staying with uncle and aunt in Tel Aviv.
Keep listening to Dave, he is one of the main reason I've taken up podcasting!

Thanks Dave for the great podcast.
I am definately the choir (at the moment I should be in the shelter) but I have many friends abroad and though they are willing to see Israeli's point of view when they hear all the biased news reports they are left thinking 'Israel really shouldn't be doing that.'
We write to them and explain the situation so they realise there is a reasonable and justifiable explaination for Israel's actions.
It also helps them put forward a logical argument when they are faced with the many people who are pro-Palestinian by default due to the bias of the internation news media.
There is no hope of affecting those with strong views but many people, who don't even realise they have an opinion, are by default anti-Israel.
We must all help with 'Hasbera' so that people hear logical explanations of Israel's actions and we can change the default to pro-Israel.

Well, there you are the excuse to destroy a country which was recovering from the last israeli occupation. Lebanon was having boomingly increases in its economy. The israelis were envious.
You could say now as usual: 'Oh, we don't want civilian casualties' but you keep assasinating children. Don't worry, dude, there will be a day. You won't be able to sleep in peace, never ever. You are doomed. This is the beginning of the end, dude. Shalom!

In response to the ignorant person who posted before me, believe as you may, but Israel has no bad intentions. All it wishes to do is defend itself from Islamic militant extremists, whom you seem to support. Israel has warned all of Lebanon from every source of media that they will be firing rockets towards Hizbullah-infested areas, and that any civilians are encouraged to leave else pay with their life. This may seem extreme until you see the rocket attacks that the Hizbullah has placed on Israel. Then ask yourself, "Is it really out of the question?". In other words, Israel is pissed and wants vengeance.
America deeply supports Israel in its defense for itself, and believes that any Islamic militant extremists (known here as terrorists) should be stopped in any manner necessary. This comes from the country that had two significant landmarks and its major defense administration's headquarters bombed by terrorists.
Now I wish that you had the least understanding of the truth, and were not clouded by your views deeply imprinted inside of your skull.

You can say whatever you want. We are fed up with the excuses of the israelis. You might have the support of the americans and you could have paid all the media conciencies of the western world. 1200 million muslims against 12 million jews. There will be one time when every mullah will decreet the holly war against every jew. When your day has arrived have a Khoran near you, you will need when you face ALLA. It's the beginning of your end. Face it...
Apologies for not deleting Abu-Kai's comments..I only checked in now. In future, I will delete his comments, since he is, as you accurately described, an anti-Semitic swine.

Please don't delete the comments from Abu-Kai.
His views are common amongst radical Muslims in my part of the world, and the more people who see his opinions the better.
BTW: You have overwhelming support on the 'Biased BBC' blog.

Cheers Mick,
You seem to appreciate that not anyone thinks like you do and you respect it.
Nix, I'm not racist whatsoever. I am only supporting the weakest. You and the people like you in America push the others to hate you, because you help israellies to masacrate arabs. Don't blame anyone if you get 9/11 again. Now you know why. Shalom?

Abu-Kai, you are right, and I won't persecute you or disagree with you any more. What America does and says is sometimes hypocritical, and yes we did get the Israelis to do our dirty work. I am not supporting anything America has done in the past, nor do I believe that it was in any way moral. You did, however, seem racist and anti-semitic in your previous post.
There are many parts of the American political stance that I do not agree with; the United States is deeply divided in political turmoil over the Middle East. However, sadly, the average American's deepest concern is a materialistic one: Gas Prices.
I take back my previous insults for another deeper understanding has swept across me. I will stay on the fence unswayed by any and all comments until this irrational constant military action by both sides of the front ceases. And then, I shall stay on the fence until I see that somebody is not doing wrong and harm.

Nix, I hope you find that peace you are looking for.
Congratulations, Dude, you are a super-star! I heard you last day on Skynews. Jamal was very brave and showed himself. You didn't use the webcamera. What are you afraid of? Is it your jewish soul that makes so coward?
You said quite a few banalities in that interview but the worst one was: 'I'm sorry for the dead of lebenese civilians'. Dude, I don't believe you. You are only sorry for the fall of jewish blood. What a price! The abduction of two evil israeli soldiers is worth the destruction of the whole civil infraestructure of a nation and the lives of hundreds (so far) of innocent unarmed civilians.
Go on and on. But, don't worry, there will be a day... Shalom?

There you have it, R. Nix. Abu-Kai is a vehement anti-Semite, and I'll leave up this last comment of his to remind you of that.
Abu-Kai, enjoy this last comment. Any further ones will be summarily deleted.

Don't worry about only preaching to the choir. Yours and other podcasts educate and arm the "choir", we then are encouraged to advocate our support, not for the podcast, but for Isreal, conservatism, our faiths etc as we then go about our daily lives. You are preaching to the choir , yes, but after the service, we go tell it on the mountain!
Sorry- pressed too soon....I am a Canadian and a neutral bystander to this conflict- that is until a Canadian UN peace keeper was murdered yesterday and 4 innocent Canadian children also murdered in the name of this unjustified war. Despite our PM's comments, Canadians DO not support the Israeli attacks on Lebanon. As a criminal lawyer, I sincerely hope the UN Human Rights Commissioner will follow up on her investigation and lay criminal charges on any person responsible for the murder of innocent civilians.
Sarah....
Sarah....
Sarah,
As a criminal lawyer, you should know the concepts of self-defence, wilful murder, and the burden of proof. Yet you throw it all out the window and accuse Israel of MURDER, without a shred of evidence. Shame on you!
(Yes, I also learned criminal law, not to mention international law)

Aussie Dave,
As you may recall from your legal studies, criminal charges are just that- charges which require sufficient (and albeit stringent) evidential burden on the prosecution, and must be proved at the International Court of Justice. An accusation is not guilt- it is a charge based on evidence. If the UN Commissioner for Human Rights publically states there is cause for concern, and that she may think murder charges may result, then I take her word for it.
However, as I noted in my previous blog- the decision to bring about charges is up to the UN Commissioner for Human Rights.
I am sincerely NOT pointing this accusation to yourself nor anyone else experiencing the atrocities of this terrible conflict. You are also a victim of this hostility, and I apologize if I offended you- this was not my intention.
However, international law is clear when civilians are killed and human rights abused.
I am sure you will agree with me that innocent civilians are being systematically killed in Lebanon because of Israeli's attacks on a democratic nation, and that these attacks- and those by Hezbollah- should be immediately ceased.

Hi Mick,
I agree- I was being biased. I was simply reacting to the news today of the UN peacekeepers deaths which was deeply disturbing to me/many Canadians. Of course any bombings/hostilities by either side is deeply to be condemned and both sides should immediately stop bombing one another......Sounds simplistic, huh? Perhaps....
Good luck with the site. I look forward to reading more comments about this war on this and other blog sites.....

Sarah,
Re being biased.
We in the UK are expected to believe everything the BBC tells us, and they are painting a one sided story.
One of the deceased Canadian peacekeepers sent an e-mail from which it is clear that Hizbulah were active in the area of the UN post.
"The closest artillery has landed within 2 meters of our position and the closest 1000 lb aerial bomb has landed 100 meters from our patrol base. This has not been deliberate targeting, but has rather been due to tactical necessity."
It seems like it was not a deliberate act.
We have also seen rallies around the world.
The Pro Hezbolah ones calling for death to Israel.
The Anti Hezbolah ones calling for peace.
My point is: Don't take at face value anything you see in the main stream media

I am a Canadian and for once, very proud of our prime minister. As i avoid the CBC because it is so anti semetic, I only got from the blogs the news that the terrorists were using the UNposition for cover from General Mackenzie. Look it up and I wish the media would use the word alleged when reporting so called isreally atrocities. Paliwood north has set up in lebanon
